Comfortable walking shoes
Apart from running shoes, you will require a comfortable & a supportive pair of shoes. This will help protect you from sore arches and achy legs before the marathon. Needless to say, one should avoid carrying high heels or fashion shoes.

An empty water bottle
You should keep yourself hydrated before and after the marathon. If you plan on traveling by air, ensure that you carry an empty bottle and constantly refill it. Low humidity levels in a plane can affect the eyes and skin but do not pose any other health issues. Being hydrated boosts the level of your stamina.

When you prepare for a marathon, you should understand what foods are essential for you. Make sure you have an ample amount of nutritious food on you, as you might not find it while traveling internationally or to a remote location.
You must pack the food you would like munching before your morning race. There shouldn’t be any change in your established routine for the race day. Carrying healthy snacks is useful while traveling.
Be prepared for all weather conditions

Eye mask and earplugs
You must take adequate rest before the day of the marathon. Sometimes, you might be anxious about the race, but a good night’s sleep is required. To ensure that you can sleep in peace, carry earplugs and an eye mask, to avoid any unwanted noise and light.
Cream or Ointment to relax your muscles
You must carry ointments or creams that help to relax your muscles and joints.
